This is a donor funded scholarship established from a bequest from the late Margaret Senior to recognize excellence in the area of Illustration for a University of Newcastle student.
The scholarship will be awarded in March to the student who completed their first year the year prior, with the highest marks in Visual Communication Design with a Graphic Design and Illustration or Animation and Interaction major.
Applicable to Illustration, Academic Achievement, Visual Communication.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you will need to:
- Be completing your first year of the Visual Communication Design program with an Illustration major with University of Newcastle.
- Be intending to study on a full-time basis (minimum 60 units per year).
- Not be the recipient of another University of Newcastle donor-funded or sponsored scholarship concurrently.

Benefit
This scholarship provides a total benefit of $10,000 paid as a lump sum in Semester 1. Payment is typically received 2-3 weeks after the census date.
Selection
No application is required for this scholarship.
This scholarship will be automatically awarded to a student who has demonstrated the highest academic performance at completion of their first year of the Visual Communication Design degree with Illustration major. Consideration will be given to the cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) in first year.
Selection may consider the number of units studied and preference may be given to students who have obtained their GPA in a full 80 units in their program with University of Newcastle.
Scholarships Office will liaise with the relevant school/s to determine the eligible recipient.
